Famagusta District: Third arrest for counterfeit 200 euros and the stolen vehicle

A third arrest was made yesterday by the Police, to facilitate the investigations related to an investigated case of car theft, theft of motor vehicle registration plates, possession of burglary tools during the night and offenses in violation of the Law on Currency Making.

He is a 32-year-old resident of Limassol, against whom testimony was obtained during the examinations and he was arrested by court order.

In another development, the two persons, aged 23 and 26, who had been arrested on the night of December 29 for the same case, were brought before the Limassol District Court yesterday, for a detention order. The court issued a six-day detention order against them.

The investigation of the case started around 10.30 pm. on December 29, when members of the Police stopped for inspection, in Limassol, a car, in which the 23-year-old and the 26-year-old were riding. During a subsequent search, 49 € 200 banknotes were found inside the vehicle and confiscated, which appear to be counterfeit and various burglary tools.

Further examination revealed that the registration plates brought by the vehicle were stolen, while the vehicle was found to have been stolen in the province of Famagusta, on October 4, 2021.

The Limassol TAE is investigating the case.
