Total 234 traffic violations were reported during inspections carried out yesterday in Paphos, by members of the Traffic Headquarters Department, and specifically by members of the Special Motorcyclist Squad.

The inspections focused on infringements which have been proven to be among the main causes of serious and deadly road collisions, such as exceeding the speed limit, failing to use a seat belt and helmet, and using a mobile phone while driving.

Among the infringements reported, The 42 complaints for speeding, the 50 complaints for mobile phone use by drivers, the 55 complaints for not using a seat belt and helmet, and the 21 complaints for traffic signal violations stand out.

Also standing out are the complaints of seven people who were found to be driving a corresponding number of vehicles, for which there was no certificate of suitability - MOT.

In technical inspections of vehicles carried out by the members of the Police, It was found that 13 vehicles had damage to the headlights, brakes or change of direction, 7 vehicles had worn tires, and 19 vehicles had tinted windshield or tinted windows on the driver and passenger doors.
