The birth rate in Cyprus has reached its nadir, according to data presented to the Ad hoc Parliamentary Committee on Immigration, before which the huge problem of low birth rates was discussed.

It was reported that 27% of births on the island are to foreigners. The population replacement rate in 2021 was at 1,3 while in 2022 it increased to 1,4 due to births from non-Cypriots.

Indicatively, it was pointed out that in 17 primary schools in Nicosia, Greek Cypriot students are below 10% and in five primary schools only foreign students attend. Similar statistics exist in other cities.
