The memory of the Vice President of EOKA 1955-1959 Grigoris Afxentiou was honored today by Church and State, at the annual memorial service held at the Holy Monastery of Panagia Macheira. Among the Minister of Defense Christoforos Fokaidis, the Speaker of Parliament Dimitris Syllouris, the politicians, officials and the dozens of citizens who attended, was the winner of the well-known survival video game "Survivor", George Angelopoulos.
George Angelopoulos stood in the church behind DISY MP Dimitris Dimitriou and Solidarity Movement MP Michalis Giorgallas. While during the trisagion that was performed in the hideout where Grigoris Afxentiou fell while fighting, he was at the side of the hero's nephew, Grigoris Souroullas.
George Angelopoulos exchanged handshakes with several citizens, while during the dialogues with the attendees he did not hide his admiration for the hero Grigoris Afxentiou, for whom he wanted to know his work and action during the EOKA Liberation Struggle.
