The forgery of a letter of recommendation is among the accusations faced by the former Volunteer Commissioner Giannis Giannakis, who will appear in court on June 9, when the court proceedings for the crimes he allegedly committed will begin. The issue is featured on the front pages of the newspaper "O Phileleftheros".

According to a police source, along with the accusations of forgery of both his degree from an American university and his high school diploma, there is a separate accusation against Mr. Giannakis in the indictment, which concerns forgery of a letter of recommendation.

The former Volunteer Commissioner allegedly forged a letter of recommendation from his previous employers before taking up his duties at the Cyprus Youth Organization.

In total in the indictment there are eight charges for forgery circulation of a forged document.

It is noted that the former Commissioner had submitted his resignation on May 26, 2021, after the publication of the complaint of the Auditor General to the Chief of Police and the beginning of a police investigation, for possible forgery of the diploma and the degree.
