Motor vehicle registrations decreased by 13,2% in July 2022, compared to July 2021, according to the publication of the "Motor Vehicle Registrations" report of the Statistical Service.
Specifically, in July 2022, total motor vehicle registrations reached 2.988, compared to 3.443 in July 2021. Passenger saloon car registrations fell by 14,2% to 2.326 from 2.712 in July 2021.
For the period January-July 2022, the total number of registered vehicles fell by 6,3% to 20.685, compared to 22.074 during the same period in 2021.
According to the Statistical Service, passenger saloon car registrations fell by 3,3% to 16.427, compared to 16.979 in the corresponding period of 2021. Of the total passenger saloon cars, 7.240 or 44,1% were new and 9.187 or 55,9% were used cars. Rental cars, in particular, saw an 86,2% increase to 2.878.
Bus registrations rose to 47 in the January-July 2022 period, up from 38 in the corresponding period in 2021.
Registrations of freight vehicles fell to 2.252 in the January-July 2022 period, compared to 2.535 in the corresponding period of 2021, a decrease of 11,2%. Specifically, light trucks decreased by 2,8% to 1.812, heavy trucks by 26,5% to 230, road tractors (trailers) by 61,7% to 49 and rental vehicles by 29,7% to 161.
Finally, moped registrations < 50cc increased to 179 in January-July 2022, compared to 166 during the same period in 2021, while motorcycle registrations > 50cc fell by 25,6% to 1.562 from 2.100.
