The authorities received a complaint for medical negligence at the Larnaca Hospital, according to omega and the show Information Now.

Specifically, a man complained that after his wife visited the Larnaca Hospital, they gave her an X-ray and diagnosed that she was anxious, referring the couple to visit a neurologist. The neurologist they went to told them that he needed to be admitted to Nicosia General Hospital. His wife died of dehydration after she was not given serum in time.

According to the husband and what he claims, his wife's health condition started in early July. Specifically, his wife had pain in her neck and body. Initially the couple visited their personal doctor.

The doctor gave them a prescription, but her condition began to worsen. A few days later the woman felt very weak and so her husband took her to Larnaca General Hospital.

According to his complaint, she was told to do X-rays and then the couple was informed by the hospital officials that she had no particular problem but anxiety and that she had to be examined by a neurologist.

Upon arrival at the neurologist they were informed that they had to go to the general hospital of Nicosia.

Specifically, after the visit to the General Hospital of Nicosia, her husband told OMEGA that: “Leaving the hospital, they told me that my wife is in an extremely critical condition. In the early morning hours around 3 in the morning they called me to tell me that it got worse and then…. 8 quarters of them called me to come to the hospital to say goodbye. After that the doctors apologized and informed me that something was wrong with my wife, she did not have an infection, she did not have cancer, she did not have anything to cause her a problem, her brain was intact. She died precisely from dehydration and low blood pressure which led to insufficiency of her internal organs. "Then I asked if anything could be done sooner, obviously in Larnaca to give her serum or to do tests that would have detected the problem earlier and her chances of survival were higher, with the doctors ... to agree".

Medical examiner Marios Matsakis said on the show: "The case is currently being investigated and a police investigation is underway. An autopsy was performed by court order on 15/07/2021 and I was also present having been appointed by my husband. The case is under investigation, but there is a serious suspicion that there is a matter of medical negligence.

The executive director of the Larnaca General Hospital, George Karotsakis, on his part noted: "First I would like to express my condolences. I had heard the case in a communication I had from your station. I investigated to see if there is any complaint, I have not identified in the last hour I have been informed. Regardless of that, I could not comment since it is being investigated by the Police. "But there will certainly be full transparency and we will provide all the facilities to the Police so that a full and in-depth investigation can be carried out and where there is responsibility and negligence, the Police can proceed with the appropriate measures".

Then, in his own position, the medical examiner Marios Matsakis stated: "I am very impressed, an autopsy was performed, the Police were involved, there were complaints of medical negligence, there was a court order for an autopsy, there was involvement of another hospital and the Director of the Hospital , 1,5 hrs. That's terrible for me. "
