The next EAC accounts are minus 12,7%

EAC, Cyprus Electricity Authority, Bills, reduction

Another 11,25% reduction in fuel costs for electricity purposes of the EAC from May, based on the new reduced fuel cost calculated by the EAC and burdens every kilowatt hour we consume.

Specifically, the fuel cost was estimated (for March) at € 404 per metric ton, which is reduced by 19,5%, compared to € 501 per metric ton last month. Respectively, the charge per kilowatt hour will be 4,23 cents (minus 11,5%) compared to 4,77 cents last month.

It should be noted that the cost of fuel, based on the fixed method calculated, takes into account at this stage the reductions recorded in March in fuel purchase prices and essentially does not include fuels purchased extraordinarily directly from the markets. This allows the prediction that further reductions in fuel costs will continue to be felt in the coming months.

Thus, for a total consumption of 1.000 kilowatts in the previous two months, it would be € 221. For the current period, ie from April 1, when the 10% discount is valid due to the crisis, the same final bill is € 199,50. With the new fuel fee, ie for bills that we will start taking from May, the bill will be € 214,57 and € 193,77 with the minus 10% that is in force.

It is reminded that the "minus 10%" concerns only the cost of electricity. Specifically, in the account of € 214, 57, the reduction by 10% applies only to the amount of € 174,80 which is the cost of electricity, network, ancillary services and fuel costs since it is not applied in the fees for Utilities (€ 0,55 5) and RES (€ 10). Also, due to the minus 3,32%, the VAT is reduced in this case by € XNUMX.

However, in total, compared to the last two months in practice, due to the minus 10% and the reduction of the fuel price, the final reduction in the next bills will be of the order of 12,7%, a percentage that increases or decreases slightly depending on how much more or less respectively, are the kilowatt hours that a household will consume.

According to information from "Φ", in the last few days, a number of consumers have been receiving very low bills, and this is due to the fact that the well-known over-indebtedness that was made by mistake in the previous two months is automatically removed.
