A 62-year-old foreign woman died tragically on the asphalt.
According to the Police, at around 01:00 at midnight, a vehicle driven by a 35-year-old foreigner with a 27-year-old foreigner passenger, while moving on the coastal street of Limassol Vasileos Georgiou, at the junction of the traffic lights with Panagioti Tsangari street, collided with the car of unfortunate 62-year-old.
In fact, the 35-year-old driver, who seems to have developed a high speed while moving eastbound in the right lane, hit the vehicle of the 62-year-old woman, who at that moment had entered Vasileos Georgiou, heading westbound.
The death of the 62-year-old was instantaneous. It should be noted that the woman was wearing a seat belt, however the severity of the collision led to her fatal injury. In particular, the 62-year-old was extricated from her vehicle with the intervention of members of the fire department, she was taken to the Limassol hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The driver of the second vehicle underwent a preliminary alcohol test with a reading of 58μg% and a final test with a reading of 47μg%. The driver was arrested and is being held at the Limassol police station.
