The identity of a young Cypriot commando is sought by Odysseas Christou, a researcher who manages the Facebook page, "1974 Testimonies & Evidence".

It is estimated that the age of the commander was not more than 1974 years in 18, he was arrested in the first days of the Turkish invasion of Cyprus and he is depicted blindfolded and wounded.

The two photos come from Turkish sources, one of which was previously published in the Hurriyet newspaper, and were spotted by researcher Odysseas Christou, administrator of the "1974 Testimonies & Evidence" Facebook page. The page deals extensively with the research and publication of historical evidence concerning the Turkish invasion of Cyprus.

"These are two photos from Turkish sources. They show a young National Guard, possibly a commando, who was arrested in the first days of the Turkish invasion. In the first, it shows the injured person receiving medical care, probably a tetanus injection by a Turkish Cypriot nurse.

He has his eyes closed and has a wound on his buttocks which should not be serious, given that he has his senses and is standing up ", says Mr. Christou to protothema.gr, emphasizing that this is a propaganda photo that aimed to show the international public the interest of the Turkish army invaders in the captured wounded. The second photo shows Turkish Marines disembarking a Greek Cypriot wounded man from a Land Rover truck with Turkish license plates.

The Turks wear a full uniform with American helmets, are large and give the image of a modern disciplined army. The E / K commander, although wounded, has his eyes and hands tied. "A foreigner who would see the photo would say about the Turks that it is a disciplined and strong army, which captured a small but dynamic commander who is being transported with precautions for medical treatment", Mr. Christou emphasizes.

The main question, however, which has not been answered to date, is the identity of the young Greek Cypriot commander and whether he returned safely to the free areas or is included in the list of missing persons of the Cyprus tragedy.

"The investigation is ongoing. We examine photos from the lists of the dead and the missing in order to find out if the specific person in the photo is included in them ", says a Cypriot researcher, who invites anyone who knows the slightest thing about the photo commander to contact the page" 1974 Testimonies & Evidence "on facebook.
