The leadership of the organized parents of Secondary Education for the special arrangements that are made regarding the conduct of the Pancyprian Examinations was informed on Wednesday by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth, Prodromos Prodromou. He stressed, among other things, that the Ministry will ensure that all children have the opportunity to attend the Pancyprian Examinations.

According to an announcement by the Ministry of Education, Mr. Prodromou had a teleconference with the Pancyprian Confederation of Parents' Associations of Public Secondary Schools. The Director of Secondary General Education, Dr. Kyprianos Louis, and the Inspector, Giorgos Giagkou, on behalf of the Directorate of Secondary Technical and Vocational Education and Training, also participated in the teleconference.

During the teleconference, the Minister of Education informed the leadership of the organized parents about the special arrangements made regarding the organization of the Pancyprian Examinations with the implementation of the protocols, as well as about the conditions for participation in the examinations of any cases or close contacts.

Mr. Prodromou stressed that the Ministry of Education will make sure that all children have the opportunity to attend the Pancyprian Examinations. Specifically, he noted that a special area is provided where those who have tested positive will be hosted and will participate in the examinations and there will be present members of the nursing staff, while the supervisors will not come in any contact with them.

In addition, he noted that for those who are characterized as close contacts, specific spaces will also be provided, maintaining the distances between them while they should arrive having a negative test. For this purpose, the Minister of Education added, special arrangements are made so that the seniors do not suffer any inconvenience and are served by the teams that carry out the diagnostic tests. In the same context, he noted that for the other students, what is provided for a weekly negative test will apply throughout the exams.

Mr. Prodromou also mentioned that arrangements are being made to vaccinate the teachers who will participate in the surveillance in these special areas that will be provided for cases or contacts.

Regarding the material of the four-month exams, the Minister stated that a logic of mitigation and leniency applies as for the Pancyprian Examinations, taking into account the special conditions that prevailed during this school year.

He noted, in the same context, that for the four-month exams there will be a second series of exams for people who due to illness will not be able to attend their exams normally.

He also pointed out that with regard to the Gymnasiums, the evaluation procedures will be adapted and the interested parties will be informed about what will apply immediately after the Easter holidays.

Finally, the Minister referred to a legislative regulation prepared by the Ministry of Education, which after receiving a technical inspection will be submitted to Parliament as soon as possible. It will provide that the results of the four-month exams - which will be applied in both the XNUMXrd Lyceum and the XNUMXrd year of the Technical Schools from the next school year - will be the criterion for admission to public universities. This, the Minister of Education noted, will facilitate the graduates who will not need to attend two examination procedures.

In the same context, he noted, it goes without saying that the four-month exams will be organized in such a way as to be as valid and reliable as the Pancyprian Examinations.
