Fines on parties and candidates for violations during the parliamentary term (LIST)

Announcement of the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection:

Following the communication day July 27, 2021 and after the completion of the investigation of the complaints submitted to my Office, which concerned the receipt of sms messages, making telephone calls and sending postal forms of political content, during the 2021 Parliamentary Elections, I inform that the examination of all of complaints had the following outcome:

- 18 complaints were deemed unfounded and / or the necessary information for their examination was not forwarded, and / or were withdrawn by the complainants themselves during their examination,

- 25 complaints, administrative sanction of the warning was imposed, and for others

- 25 complaints were imposed an administrative penalty of a fine, totaling € 29500.

In the context of transparency and information, it is also reported that administrative sanctions were imposed on the following parties and / or candidates:

- € 12000 to the Democratic Party for 9 violations,

- € 4500 to the Social Democrat Movement EDEK for 4 violations,

- € 6000 to Mr. Aleko Tryfonidis for 7 violations,

- € 4000 to Mr. Andreas Themistokleous for 5 violations,

- € 2000 to Mr. Geadis Geadis for 3 violations,

- € 1000 to Dr. Dimitris Sophocles for 2 violations.

It is reiterated that out of the 68 complaints, 11 have been forwarded to the Office of the Election Commissioner for his own actions.
