Due to the new variant of the coronavirus with the name "Omicron" that alerted the world health authorities, the Ministry of Health is in constant meetings and consultations for the evaluation of the data.
According to information, the Minister of Health, Michalis Hatzipandelas, will have a meeting tomorrow, at the Nicosia General Hospital, with representatives of OKYPY.
The focus of the discussion will be the "Omicron" mutation and how hospitals will prepare if the mutation is highly contagious.
In addition, a new meeting of the Minister of Health with the Scientific Advisory Committee is expected to take place on Monday in order to analyze the issue of the new mutation. According to information, with the situation being extremely fluid, it is not ruled out that additional measures may be necessary in case the mutation is characterized as "highly contagious".
It is noted that on Monday the Minister of Health will be vaccinated with the third dose of the vaccine against covid-19.
