24-year-old woman in prison for six years – She brought 7 kg of cannabis to Cyprus

The Permanent Criminal Court of Larnaca today imposed a six-year prison sentence on a 24-year-old woman, following her own admission, for offenses involving conspiracy to commit a felony, illegal importation, supply, possession and possession of drugs with the intent to supply, specifically approximately 7,9 kilos of cannabis.

According to the facts of the case in the context of the actions carried out by the Anti-Narcotics Service (YKAN) in collaboration with the Customs Authorities, the woman was stopped for control, around 8.30 in the evening of Friday 15 December 2023, upon her arrival at the airport Larnaca, from a foreign country.

During the check, eight nylon packages were found in her luggage, which contained a total of 7 kilograms and 957 grams of cannabis, as a result of which she was arrested for a self-inflicted crime.

After a hearing, the Criminal Court today sentenced the 24-year-old to six years in prison.

The case had been investigated by the Larnaca Provincial Division of the YCAN.
