What changes from Monday in weddings and christenings – All the information about the new relaxations

In the context of the timetable decided by the Council of Ministers for the gradual lifting of restrictions and the gradual restart of the economy and social activism, the Ministry of Health recalls that from Monday, May 17th, the following shall enter into force:

1. The presence of believers is allowed during church attendance and / or other forms of religious worship, provided that the simultaneous presence of persons does not exceed 30% of the capacity of the place of religious worship.

2. The Weddings, baptisms and funerals with a maximum number of 200 people, meaning the fullness within the space where the ceremony takes place does not exceed 30% of its capacity.

Meals and / or dinners are only available outdoors catering and outdoor events and hotels / tourist accommodation with a maximum number of 200 persons and of course attendees are seated. It is understood that the health protocol is applied for holding social events.

3. Allowed holding conferences and trade fairs, with fullness that does not exceed 30% of the capacity of the premises, in which they take place.

4. Allowed the operation of casinos with a fullness not exceeding 30% of the capacity of the premises, in compliance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Health.

5. Allowed the operation of open-air and indoor theaters, amphitheaters, cinemas and art and spectacle halls with their maximum number 50 viewers or in full 30% of the capacity of the premises indoors and 50% of the capacity of the premises outdoors.

6. Allowed the operation of playgrounds, amusement parks and theme parks, only outdoors and without holding social events, based on the guidelines of the Ministry of Health.

7. The private service companies and the state and wider public sector, excluding essential services, work remotely. Be allowed the physical presence of employees not exceeding 50% of the total number of employees. It is understood that hygiene protocols are strictly observed in the workplace.

It is understood that 50% of people who work with a physical presence should undergo a weekly rapid antigen detection test. Excluded are employees who have vaccinated with at least 1η dose of the vaccine and of course a period of 3 weeks has elapsed since the vaccination. For example, if a company / organization / department of the public / wider public sector employs 20 people with a physical presence, of which 12 have received 1η dose of the vaccine, the obligation for weekly testing concerns the other 8 people (4 + 4).

8. The travel ban valid from 12 midnight to 5 the next morning.

9. OR presentation SafePass from people aged 12 and over is mandatory in case of control by authorized officials, in the following premises / companies:

  • Indoor places of religious worship
  • Interiors of theaters, cinemas and performing arts halls or spectacles
  • Shopping centers and retail businesses over 500 sq.m. which market a wide range of products
  • Ceremonies such as weddings, baptisms and funerals, meaning that they are held indoors, such as places of religious worship, Town Halls, District Administrations, etc.
  • Indoor areas of gyms, dance schools and other sports schools, as well as specific sports facilities defined by guidelines of the Cyprus Sports Organization
  • Nursing homes, nursing homes, accommodation facilities for the chronically ill and other closed facilities
  • Hotels and tourist accommodation for accommodation / overnight purposes and for the use of interiors and infrastructure
  • Pre-election rallies in indoor theaters / amphitheaters and restaurants
  • Conferences and trade fairs held indoors and outdoors
  • Casino.

10. The SafePass submission it is not mandatory to go to the following places:

  • Hairdressers, beauty salons
  • Outdoor areas of restaurants (restaurants, cafes, bars, snack bars, coke)
  • Courtyards area of ​​places of religious worship
  • Outdoor theaters, cinemas and performing arts halls
  • Banks
  • Departments / Services for the public of the private, public and wider public sector
  • Gambling and betting companies
  • Flea markets, food retail businesses, supermarkets, bakeries, butchers, fishmongers, fruit shops, mini-markets, kiosks, pharmacies
  • Outdoor gathering places, ie parks and linear parks, beaches, squares, dams, picnic areas, marinas, zoos, parks and nature trails.
