A leg up with small increases in the salaries of employees of the public and the wider public sector, made in 2020, due to the gradual removal of the cuts in their salaries.

As of today, the third phase of the agreement reached in 2018 between the government and the trade unions for the restoration of the salaries of the workers, which were cut due to the fiscal consolidation measures, comes into force.

This year, employees are expected to receive about € 43 million, out of a total of € 265 million expected to be reimbursed by 2023, when their salaries will be fully restored. It is noted that the restoration of payroll began in July 2018 and will be completed in January 2023 through six phases.

Under the agreement, cuts from all pay scales will be reduced from today. In fact, the gradual restoration of salaries will touch for the first time the earnings in excess of € 2 thousand.

From today the salaries are expected to be as follows:

For earnings from € 1.001 to € 1.500 the cuts will be reduced to 3,3%. For example, an employee who receives a salary of € 1.500, from today his cuts will be reduced to € 16,50. It is noted that in July 2018, the salary of this employee was reduced by € 89,50. Besides, in 2021 the cuts will be 0,8% which will be equivalent to € 4 while in 2022 they will be eliminated.

For salaries from € 1.501 to € 2.000, from today the cuts will be reduced to 5,3%. That is, an employee who receives a salary of € 2 thousand from today his cuts will be € 43 per month. In the meantime in 2021 the cuts will be reduced to 2,8% or € 18 while in 2022 they will be zeroed.

For salaries from € 2.001 to € 3 thousand the salary cuts will be reduced to 11% compared to 13,5% that was before July 2018. From today an employee with earnings of € 3 thousand will have cuts of € 153 per month compared to € 286 last year. In 2021 the cuts will be further reduced to 8,5% corresponding to € 103, in 2022 they will shrink to 5%, ie € 50 and from 2023 they will be eliminated.

For earnings from € 3.001 to € 4 thousand from today the cuts will be reduced to 13,5% compared to € 16% last year. For example, an employee with a salary of € 4 thousand per month, from today the cuts will be € 288. Moreover, in 2021 the cut will be reduced to 11%, which corresponds to € 213 and in 2022 to 7,5%, which corresponds to € 125. From 2023 they will be annihilated.

For earnings over € 4 thousand, the cuts will be reduced to 15%. Specifically, an employee who receives a salary of € 4.500 per month, from today the cuts will be reduced to € 383. In previous years, the cuts were of the order of 17,5% corresponding to € 533. It is noted that in 2021 the cuts will be further reduced and will reach 12,5% ​​or € 295 and in 2022 at 9% which is equivalent to € 170. From 2023 they will be annihilated.
