Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar, in a reference to the pseudo-state, said that their most important task is to defend their "state" and their people and to develop their "country".

According to the GTP, Mr. Tatar also claimed that "we can never put our people in such a danger. With the support of the Turkish Republic, we are spreading our policy around the world. We are fortunate to have this achieved. Our state is at least as legal as that of the Greek Cypriots. […] We are a sovereign state and our relations with Turkey will continue forever […] "
