Paphos Police is investigating a case of driving a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs, driving a vehicle with a canceled registration and without a certificate of suitability, against a 25-year-old to facilitate the investigations.
According to Paphos Assistant Police Director Michalis Ioannou, yesterday members of the Paphos Traffic Police on Leonida Papakosta Street were conducting checks and stopped a vehicle driven by a 25-year-old Paphos resident.
From an inspection of the vehicle documents, it was found that the registration of the vehicle was canceled due to the expiration of the registration certificate from 31.12.18 and the certificate of conformity had expired from 12.2.21.
He was asked to give a preliminary sample for a drug detection test and was found to have saliva in his saliva.
He then gave an additional sample as is the usual procedure to be sent to the General State Chemist for laboratory analysis.
A subsequent search of his vehicle did not reveal anything illegal. The vehicle was then transported to the Paphos Traffic Police and he was taken into custody.
Investigations into the case are ongoing.
