The Paphos District Court issued a two-day detention order against the 32-year-old for a case of driving under the influence of drugs, illegal possession of property and possession of burglary tools during the night, while a second person, aged 37, who was arrested, was released.

According to the Assistant Police Director of Paphos, Michalis Ioannou, on January 8, 2022, around 22:00 in the night in Chloraka, a vehicle was stopped for inspection, in which two people were riding. The driver was 32 years old, while the passenger was a 37-year-old compatriot.

A preliminary examination of drugs in the driver revealed that the 32-year-old was positive. A second sample was taken from him which will be sent for laboratory examination to the General State Chemist.

Also, in a further search of the vehicle, several objects were found, which, as Mr. Ioannou stated, are believed to be products of burglary and theft. The two persons did not give satisfactory explanations for the findings. The two persons were taken to the police station where the 37-year-old was released from detention, while the 32-year-old was taken yesterday to the Paphos District Court, which issued a detention order for two days. The case is being investigated by YKAN (Paphos Ladder) and the Paphos TAE.
