Paphos Police are investigating a case of illegal possession and transfer of an improvised explosive device firearm and illegal possession and transfer of explosives in a closed period for hunting, against a 77-year-old man.
According to the Police, at 11:00 yesterday on a rural road in the village area of mountainous Paphos, following specific information, members of the Thera Service stopped a vehicle, which was driven by a 77-year-old from Limassol.
A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up and confiscated a hunting vest containing 103 full cartridges, an aluminum barrel and a handgun with a handle for which suspicions arose that when assembled into a type plowshare.
The 77-year-old was taken to the Kouklia police station and charged in writing and then released to be summoned later.
The crime of illegal possession and transfer of a firearm, improvised explosive device and illegal possession and transfer of explosives in a closed period for hunting is being investigated against him.
The items were received for scientific examinations.
