The suspicions of the Thera and Fauna Service are directed in a specific direction in relation to new criminal act against the Service, after the arson of two vehicles. The arsonists acted yesterday at 02:00 in the morning, setting fire to two vehicles which were parked in an open area near the offices of the Service in the Mesa Geitonia.

With the first light of day, members of the Limassol TAE and the Fire Service proceeded with on-site examinations of the two vehicles of the Thera Service, from where they received various items for examinations. The two vehicles were engulfed in flames after a fire which was set maliciously using flammable material.

The information of "F" states that in the offices of the investigators of TAE Limassol Persons who had recently been reported by the Thera Service for various offenses were summoned and interrogated. However, so far nothing to their detriment has emerged. The investigations of TAE Limassol continue at an intensive pace, while the closed monitoring circuits of the area have already been checked.

In statements to "F" the spokesman of the Thera Service, Petros Anagiotos, expressed suspected that behind the arson of the two vehicles, there may be persons who had recently been charged with hare poaching cases in the province of Limassol, during the new hunting season. Mr. Anagiotos condemned the incident, noting that this is not the first time that strangers have committed criminal acts against the Thera Service. It is recalled that last May, unknown individuals set fire to a double-cab vehicle with flammable material, which was parked in an open area near the offices of the Thera Service.

"The Service and its members are not intimidated by such incidents. "Our Service will continue to do its job smoothly, which is to reduce all forms of poaching," said Mr. Anagiotos.

It should be noted that most of the complaints and out of court concern, as Mr. Anagiotos explained, cases where the offenders hunt within a prohibited hunting area with the fine amounting to 2.000 euros. Also, another illegal act is poaching during the night where the fine amounts to 25.000.
