Concern, skepticism and in many cases controversy were triggered by Deltacron, the new variant of the coronavirus that was identified in samples of positive cases from the Cypriot community, the team of the professor of the Department of Biological Sciences of the University of Cyprus, Dr. Leontiou Kostriki.
The news of the discovery was hosted by the largest news agencies.
In some cases, experts do not seem to think that this is a new variant of the coronavirus. A more typical case is that of the British biologist Tom Peacock, who states that "the Cypriot" Deltacron "mutation reported by many major media outlets clearly seems contagious."
Finally its worth adding… much of what we understand about what makes Delta more transmissible/infectious, Omicron already possess – its currently unclear to me what Omicron could have to gain from Delta (with what we currently know at least)
