They ignited the blood in the last cross-channel debate before the ballot box, between the three main candidates, against the background of the financial support, contributions and sponsorships of the parties.

Initially, Mavroyiannis stated that AKEL respected the letter and the law on sponsorships. As he said, it is the only party that did it right with complete transparency.

He also noted that all the sponsorships have been announced and will announce even the smallest ones for absolute transparency.

In closing, he fired his shots at Nikos Christodoulidis, stating that it is not possible to hide behind the letter of the law and not give evidence.

In his turn, Nikos Christodoulidis was asked, among other things, to clarify why he has not disclosed the figures of contributions and sponsorships to his candidacy.

In particular, he stated that he has not received state sponsorship, while for the first time in the history of the Republic of Cyprus, he publicly donated to the people.

He also emphasized that he will make all the figures public after the end of the presidential elections.

“They say I'm an addict. And what I haven't heard in this election campaign," he noted.

Finally, Averof Neofytou said that the letter of the law is one thing and political ethics is another.

"We heard something unheard of, those who want transparency called transparency populism. We set rules regardless of the law. 50% of the state sponsorship to the party. And 50% from contributions. We rejected any contribution over 50 thousand", he stressed.

Andreas Mavroyiannis came back saying that he himself has heard worse.

"I heard that my cousin gave seven million to AKEL to choose me," he concluded.
