The Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry announces that the work of the "Cronos-2" appraisal well has been successfully completed, within Block 6 of the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of the Republic of Cyprus, by the joint venture of Eni Cyprus Limited (Operator) and TotalEnergies EP Cyprus BV

The drilling, which was carried out at a distance of 160 kilometers from the coast of Cyprus and 3 kilometers from the original exploration well "Cronos-1", demonstrated the existence of the same natural gas column, with a productive zone within a geological formation exceeding 115 meters. He confirmed that this is an extension of the "Cronos" deposit, with the same characteristics in carbonate rocks.

During the drilling operations, a complete production test (DST) was also carried out, which recorded the excellent quality of natural gas in the field, as well as the high production capacity of the reservoir, which is estimated to exceed 150 mmscfd (Million Standard Cubic Feet per Day) in production conditions.

"Cronos" is the third natural gas field discovery in Block 6 of the Cyprus EEZ, along with "Calypso" (2018) and "Zeus" (2022). At this stage, the Ministry of Energy and the licensed consortium are considering the ways to optimally utilize the fields, which I am told in passing will concern the supply of gas to the Eastern Mediterranean, Cyprus and Europe, with the complex of discoveries that has been created to be expected to contribute to the acceleration of their development.

The companies Eni and TotalEnergies have also made announcements about the successful completion of the "Cronos-2" operations.
