The Ministry of the Interior announces the operation of the electronic information service for registration in the special electoral list of the European Elections 2024 of citizens residing in the areas where the Government of the Republic does not exercise effective control, at the electronic address https://etv.elections.moi.gov.cy/.
In accordance with the provisions of subsection (1A) of article 9 of the 2004 Law on the Election of Members of the European Parliament, every citizen of the Republic who, according to the data contained in the Population Register System: is registered in the special electoral roll for voters.
resides in areas where the Government of the Republic does not exercise effective control,
has already turned 18 or by the date of the election for the nomination of the members of the European Parliament turns XNUMX, and
holds an identity card of the Republic, which was issued by the Population Registry System.
The service, which was developed following a relevant proposal from the Office of the European Parliament in Cyprus, aims to inform citizens in a timely manner about the conditions for automatic registration in the special electoral roll, so that they can take the necessary actions that may be required to update their information in the Population File System. The relevant applications must be submitted to the offices of the relevant Districts until April 2, 2024.
It is reminded that citizens who live in the areas where the Government of the Republic does not exercise effective control, vote in special election centers that operate for this purpose in areas adjacent to the cease-fire line. Unlike other voters, these voters are not allocated to specific polling stations and can vote at any special polling station. In order to avoid double voting, an electronic electoral roll is used in these centers.
