"My decision to resign is final and in the next period we will say more about the reasons for my resignation from the position of the vice-president of the Alarm", says Marios Pelekanos in a written statement.

"Following since Monday various deliberate leaks and discussions from "small wells", which are embraced restlessly and without confirmation by some, I would like to make it clear that my resignation has nothing to do with the result of the Politburo's vote, but with what happened in the background, which were the straw that broke the camel's back," he notes.

"Never in my life," he continues, "did I learn to function by putting my personal interest before the common good."

As he reports, in Paphos and Limassol the manipulations were done as a group by the leadership and the party procedures were followed. "Those who have a different impression or "information" have only to ask the leadership and the executives of the party's provincial offices or even Mr. Nikolaidis himself," he adds.

He further states that "regarding what the "bad tongues" say about the crosses and a strategic vote in my favor, I inform them that I have no objection to the publication of the crosses. On the contrary, I challenge them to do it."

I hope, he concludes, "that I will not have to respond again to the "bad languages" which aim to tarnish my reputation and reputation. Cyprus is small and we all know each other well...".
