The issue of the provisions of the contract between the state and the Kition consortium as well as the implementation of the project of the joint development of the port and marina of Larnaca will be examined by the parliamentary Audit Committee, as decided in today's session.
The matter will be examined ex officio by the committee following a proposal by the President of the Committee Zacharias Koulias and with the agreement of all its members.
Speaking at the beginning of the session, Mr. Koulias said that a letter will be sent to the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works requesting the submission of the contract between the state and the Kition consortium.
Mr. Koulias also asked the Auditor General of the Republic Odysseus Michaelidis, who was present at the session to discuss the report of the Audit Service for the Tax Department, to prepare and submit a report to the committee.
AKEL Member of Parliament Irini Charalambidou noted that the agreement between the consortium and the state is confidential, with the Auditor General responding that all state agreements, which are considered agreements between two parties, are not made public, but added that this does not mean that the provisions cannot be forwarded to the Commission.
Intervening, AKEL Member of Parliament Kostas Kostas informed that a similar issue has been registered with the Parliamentary Committee on Transport but for consideration of the implementation process, noting that the Audit Committee should deal only with the project contract.
Mr. Koulias finally said that the matter will be discussed within 2-3 weeks.
