The new party "I am the Citizen" continues the meetings of acquaintance and exchange of views with the political parties and the candidates for the Presidency of the Republic.
Today, the party leadership had a meeting with the Secretary General. of AKEL Andro Kyprianou.
Speaking after the meeting, the Vice President of the Ego party, Politis Giorgos Kountouris, after thanking Mr. Kyprianou for the hospitality, stressed that: "the priorities of the new party are the exchange of views with the other political parties in the country, especially behind them a heavy story, like the one that AKEL has ''.
We discussed, he said, issues concerning internal governance and the Cyprus issue. To a large extent we find common ground and there is mutual understanding, especially on how this dialogue should be developed and work for the benefit of Cypriot society.
We all have this goal and we believe, as a party that came to enrich the public debate and not to break with anyone, that a climate discussion that took place today with the Secretary General of AKEL, is that the best can happen in the political life of the place, concluded Mr. Kountouris.
On his part, Andros Kyprianou characterized this first acquaintance meeting as particularly constructive and productive. As he said, an exchange of views took place on many issues, which are currently before the Cypriot society.
Apart from the Cypriot issue, which has to do with the perspective and the future of our country, we discussed, he said, the need for reforms, so that we have a modern European multicultural education, so that Cypriot society can move forward. He stressed: "We have exchanged views and I believe that we have agreed on the need to combat corruption and entanglement, which unfortunately have spread to a dangerous degree in Cypriot society."
Economic issues were also discussed and the need for a change in the orientation of the Cypriot economy was emphasized, with a greater emphasis on innovation and high technology issues.
Answering questions, Mr. Kyprianou stated that the issue of the presidential elections was not discussed, while Mr. Kountouris stated that EGO O POLITIS is meeting with the candidates for the Presidency of the Republic and may end up supporting one of the incumbents.
