Young people are the future in the region, said today the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ioannis Kasoulidis, in his speech at the closing of the conference on youth issues entitled: "Youth Cooperation for Peace - Building Bridges to Counter Radicalization and Extremism" held in Nicosia.

Mr. Kasoulidis also said that the initiative for the conference was taken in the framework of the Rhodes Conference, where it was decided that the Conference deals with issues of security and stability in our region but with a positive agenda.

In this context, he said, an issue that is of great concern and needs to be addressed is the fight against extremism and the radicalization of young people.

The Ministry of Education together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Youth Organization invited representatives of the youth organizations of various countries from Europe and the Arab countries, which participate in the dialogue, and in the presence of ambassadors "we will hear their conclusions and views" which "They will help those who make the decisions," said the Foreign Minister.

In this way, he said, the conference contributes in a positive way to the reconstruction of bridges, adding that "young people will shape the future".

Asked about the situation in Cyprus, Mr. Kasoulidis said that "I can not say that the phenomena in Cyprus are worrying but this does not prevent us to contribute at least as a prevention, not to happen to us in the future."
