DSC01029 Dimitris Christofi, Nea Famagusta

Whatever is written about Dimitris Christofis is not enough to describe his talent. The 25-year-old midfielder's pride of Sotira, managed with stubbornness but also his inexhaustible talent to be considered - not unjustly - the best Cypriot football player at the moment. From the summer of 2013 he was transferred to Swiss Zion, being one of the "golden" transfers in the history of Cypriot football. His team, despite the huge contribution of Jimmy, is in the penultimate position, fighting in an extremely difficult four-round championship.

In the past few days, on the occasion of the suspension of the championship in Switzerland, Jim managed to "lift" the whole team from Zion and bring it to Ayia Napa for preparation. In the program of friendly matches, Christofi also played with his previous team, from which he was adored since he is one of the most beloved faces of the Cypriot stadiums.

On the occasion of his arrival in Cyprus, Tzimis promised us that he would give an interview only on Sotira's website, where he comes from. And he kept his promise, despite being asked for interviews by numerous Cypriot media. And we thank him very much for that.

Below is the interview he gave exclusively to SotiraNews:

- Dimitris, welcome to your homeland. Do you miss it?
- I must say that yes, I have missed the Savior and my homeland in general. The environment in Switzerland is very different and although I have adapted a lot, I still can not say that I have longed for Cyprus?

- Are you watching Onisilos? How do you feel about his poor path to degradation?
- I watch Onisilos and I am very interested in my team. I ask my relatives and friends very often and unfortunately his course this year is not the most pleasant. The problems of the team are many and we hope that it will recover.

- What have you wanted, Dimitris, from Sotira and from Cyprus in general?
- What I wanted most is the Cypriot cuisine, my friends and relatives.

- It would not be an exaggeration to say that at the moment you are one of the biggest ambassadors of Cyprus abroad. In this capacity, do you advertise Cyprus and the Savior to your teammates and to the Swiss in general?
- The funny thing is that not only do they not know where Sotira is, but they also do not know anything about Cyprus. But now that they came and got to know Cyprus, with such good hospitality conditions, they have been surprised by the facilities, the hospitality and the nice climate.

- How much did you find Sotira after the summer you left? Do you think that progress has been made?
- Despite the fact that due to my obligations my visits abroad to Cyprus have become very sparse, and even these are due to the national team, I think that a very good job is being done and Sotira makes us feel more proud.

- Recently, the Cyprus Football Federation has proceeded with the hiring of a new coach, Pampos Christodoulou. What do you think about the new coach of our National Team?
- I think that the hiring of Mr. Christodoulou was the right move and I think things will change significantly in all areas so that we can move forward as a national team and do something more.

- How do you see the difficulties in the Championship for Omonia and the removal from the first place of the standings?
- I am particularly sorry for the difficulty in the championship for Omonia and I hope it will recover soon.

- How is life in Switzerland?
- At first I can say that I was late to get used to the climate but at the moment I can say that I feel like my second country. It has a different mentality, the world is very different but I think it can be one of the best countries.

- Do the fans recognize you on the streets of Zion?
- I can say that it is not like Cyprus. The mentality of the inhabitants in relation to football is not the same. The Swiss do not play football as much and even if they do, they are not so passionate fans. But still they recognize me and greet me on the street.

- The course of Zion, despite the enormous efforts you make, is not better, How do you feel about that?
- My team is currently in the penultimate position, but it is a very different league with 10 teams and 4 rounds. We play four times with each opponent and the score because it is only 10 teams is very different. One day you may be the last and the next you may claim a place in Europe. Nevertheless, I hope that we will recover later and claim the first places.

- Is there a message you would like to leave to SotiraNews readers?
- The message I want to leave, especially to our young friends, is that only with hard work and effort can we make our dreams come true. A great example is the other young man from Sotira, Grigoris Kastanos, who has spread his wings at Juventus and this proves that the constant effort can help us achieve our goals. Thank you where for the interview.
