Stavros Psycharis was a publisher, journalist and businessman. He was the president of the Lambrakis Journalistic Organization (DOL) from 2009 to 2017.

His path in the media has been rich: he started his journalistic career in 1964 in the newspaper "Democratic Change". During the dictatorship, he worked as a parliamentary editor of the newspaper "Ethnos".

From 1972, his involvement in DOL began, initially as a journalist and then as a political editor of the newspaper "Ta Nea".

Since the autumn of 1983, he was the director of the newspaper "To Vima". In September 2001 he assumed the duties of general manager and from September 2003 of the managing director and vice-chairman of the Board of Directors Group. of USD

In 2009, he took the reins at the Lambrakis Foundation (formerly the Lambrakis Research Foundation) and at DOL, a position he assumed after the death of Christos Lambrakis in 2009. That year, he himself took over the publishing of both "Vimas" and "Neo". .

In between, in 1996 he was appointed Governor of Mount Athos by the Simitis government, a position he held until 2001.
He was honored on June 20, 2010 by the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople for his contribution during the period he served as Governor of Mount Athos with the office of Grand Notary of the Ecumenical Throne.

Born in 1945, he had been married twice. From his first marriage he had two sons, Panagiotis and Andreas who followed in his father's footsteps in journalism. He had two daughters from his second marriage.
