Renault has long announced its gradual shift to complete electrification of its range and as part of this policy the new generation of the successful Megane will be exclusively electric.
The Renault Megane E-Tech, as it will be called now, is not only electric but also has strong elements from SUVs and will be classified in the category of crossovers. At the same time it has an interesting appearance with a closed natural mask, small proportional glass surfaces and interesting details, such as the hidden handles on the doors that appear automatically (pop up).
The 4,21 meter long Megane has a wheelbase of 2.700 mm, which guarantees comfortable spaces inside. Here, the large, vertical screen of the infotainment system stands out aesthetically, a device that is generally preferred by the French company and together with the digital instrument panel is a single visual set with an idea of retro appearance.
The Megane E-Tech, based on the CMF-EV framework already used in the Nissan Ariya will be available with two 40 and 60 kWh batteries. Which Renault characterizes as ultra thin, weigh from 395 kg and ensure a range of up to 300 km for the smallest and 470 for the largest.
The basic electric motor produces 130 hp and the most powerful 218, while along the way - the electric Renault Megane E-Tech will be available from 2022 - a four-wheel drive version with two electric motors and a combined 400 hp will be added to the range.
