The Paphos Police arrested a 48-year-old permanent resident of Cyprus yesterday Wednesday, regarding a criminal case being investigated by the Paphos TAE and concerning the circulation of forged documents in Paphos, as well as a European arrest warrant, which has been issued against him, to facilitate investigations.

According to the press representative of ADE Paphos and Head of TAE Paphos Michalis Nikolaou, the 48-year-old was wanted by the Paphos Crime Investigation Department regarding a complaint by another person that while he had delivered a vehicle to him, he should keep it in his custody, due to the fact that he would be absent abroad, the suspect allegedly proceeded to sell the car for 3 thousand euros.

Against the 48-year-old, a case of detachment and theft from a depository and preparation and circulation of forged documents is being considered.

Regarding the European arrest warrant, Mr. Nikolaou told KYPE that it has been issued by Latvia for fraud and money laundering offences.

The two cases are being investigated and the procedure for his extradition is expected to begin in the Latvian authorities. Along the way, Mr. Nikolaou said, it will be decided whether he will be detained in the Republic of Cyprus for the purposes of adjudicating a criminal case he committed in the country or whether they will proceed with his extradition.
