Vehicle registrations increased by 32,5% in the period January-October 2023

An annual increase of 32,5% was recorded in the total number of registered vehicles during the period January-October 2023, compared to the same period in 2022, according to data published on Wednesday by the Statistical Service, reaching 38.503, compared to 29.062. At the same time, vehicle registrations almost doubled in October 2023 compared to October 2022.

It is worth noting that of the total of 38.503 new registrations in the first ten months of this year, 1.809 are electric and 8.875 are hybrids.

Specifically, passenger saloon car registrations increased by 34,1% to 30.897, compared to 23.045 in the corresponding period of 2022. Of the total passenger saloon cars, 12.651 or 40,9% were new and 18.246 or 59,1 % were used cars. Rental cars in particular saw a 40,6% increase to 5.157.

Additionally, bus registrations increased to 279 in the January-October 2023 period, up from 72 in the same period in 2022. Freight vehicle registrations increased to 3.676 in the January-October 2023 period, compared to 3.181 in the corresponding period of 2022, marking an increase of 15,6%. Specifically, light trucks increased by 12,2% to 2.872, heavy trucks by 41,9% to 444, road tractors (trailers) by 65,8% to 126 and rental vehicles by 0,4% to 234.

According to the data, registrations of mopeds < 50cc increased to 263 in January-October 2023, compared to 214 in the same period in 2022, while registrations of motorcycles > 50cc increased by 30,7% to 2.927 in January-October. 2023, compared to 2.239 in the same period in 2022.

In October 2023, total motor vehicle registrations reached 4.223, up 70,2% from 2.481 in October 2022. Saloon passenger car registrations increased 82,5% to 3.398 from 1.862 in October 2022.
