The enrollment of children for the school year 2019-2020, in Public Kindergartens and in all grades of Public Primary Schools (AD-ST), will take place on 21-23 January 2019, and not on 14-16 January 2019 as initially had been announced.

According to today's announcement of the Primary Education Directorate of the Ministry of Education and Culture, the registrations will be completed within this period and there will be no new registration period.

Those parents / guardians who do not enroll their children during the above period, should apply to the relevant District Education Office, which will decide on enrollment in the nearest school where there will be a vacancy.

The Unified All-Day Schools (EOS) have compulsory attendance until 15:15 or until 16:00 (except Wednesday where the hours are 07:45 to 13:05). There is only one departure time and those parents / guardians who can not meet it, should apply for enrollment / transfer to another school, during the enrollment / transfer period (January 21-23, 2019).

Regarding the registration process in the Optional All-Day Schools (POS), a relevant circular will be posted soon.

All children of any nationality residing in Cyprus have the right to register, regardless of the legal or illegal stay of their parents on the island.

Mandatory enrollment in the Pre-Primary class are those children who complete the 4 years and 10 months before September 1, 2019, ie those born from January 1, 2014 until October 31, 2014, in the Compulsory Pre-Primary Education those children who complete the 4 years and 8 months before September 1, 2019, ie those born from November 1, 2014 until December 31, 2014, and in the first grade those children who turn 5 years and 8 months before September 1, 2019, ie those born from January 1, 2013 31 until 2013 December XNUMX.

Attendance at Compulsory Public Education is free.

Parents / guardians have the right to choose to enroll their children in either a Public, Community or Private Kindergarten approved by the Ministry of Education and Culture. Lists of Community and Approved Private Kindergartens are posted on the website of the Ministry of Education and Culture (www.moec.gov.cy, Directorate of Primary Education, School Lists).

Applications for enrollment in Public and Community Kindergartens can also be submitted by younger children, 3-4 8/12 years old, ie those children who were born from 1 January 2015 until 31 August 2016. Children of this age will secure a place, provided that vacancies remain after the enrollment of children in compulsory education. For their education, children aged 3-4 8/12 years pay monthly tuition.

Registrations are based on the educational district to which the children's residence belongs.

The revised educational districts for the school year 2019-2020 will be posted on the Internet (www.moec.gov.cy, Directorate of Primary Education, Educational Districts), before the start of registrations / transfers.

It is pointed out that the educational districts do not apply to children younger (3-4 8/12 years old) than the age of compulsory education.

When choosing the children who will attend a kindergarten, priority is given to the children of the educational district of the kindergarten. The attendance of these children in a kindergarten that does not belong to their educational district does not ensure the continuation of their attendance in the same kindergarten at the beginning of their compulsory education.

In addition, applications for transfer will be submitted to the local District Education Offices during the three days of registration, ie, January 21-23, 2019. The transfer application form (EPA 33) can be obtained from the website of the Ministry of Education. (http://www.moec.gov.cy/dde/entipa.html) or from the relevant District Education Offices.

Parents / guardians will be notified of the approval or rejection of their application by February 8, 2019. There will be no further transfer review period.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to enroll their children, of all grades, during the above period, in order to make timely planning for school staffing.
