A Child Psychiatrist is a doctor who specializes in diagnosis and treatment as well as in the prevention of mental disorders in children and adolescents from the age of birth to the age of 18 years. Specifically, the child psychiatrist specializes in the difficulties related to thinking, emotions and behaviors that affect the functionality of children, adolescents and their own family. It offers families the benefits of medical education as well as medical responsibility for providing comprehensive and comprehensive care.

Practice

The child psychiatrist uses the knowledge of biological, psychological and social factors that contribute to the development of psychopathology. Education

The psychiatric education of children and adolescents requires the study and completion of medical school and then five years of education and obtaining the specialty title in Child Psychiatry which includes specialized education in Neurology, General Psychiatry and Psychiatry of Children, Adolescents and Children. In some countries, it also includes education in Pediatrics. In the period of general psychiatry the doctor achieves his specialization in the basic elements of the theory and practice of psychiatry.

In his education in child psychiatry he acquires a thorough knowledge of normal child and family development, psychopathology and therapy. Particular attention is paid to childhood disorders, such as autism spectrum disorders, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Learning Disabilities, Mental Disorders, Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Addiction Disorders and Addictions . The Child Psychiatrist applies and develops psychiatric skills in dealing with children, adolescents and their families in a variety of settings.

Continuing education

The Child Psychiatrist must study and learn the new developments around the topics of Mental Health of Children and Adolescents by reading the scientific literature and attending conferences. Then apply the new knowledge in diagnostic, therapeutic and counseling work with children.
