The Mayor of Deryneia, Andros Karagiannis, addresses an appeal to the Minister of Health, Konstantinos Ioannou, for the reinforcement of the Famagusta General Hospital.

In a letter to the Minister of Health sent last week regarding the strengthening of the General Hospital of Famagusta, the Mayor of Deryneia refers to the "efforts made by the management of the public hospital, the medical and paramedical staff, as well as the local authorities and groups citizens for its reinforcement and staffing ".

He adds, however, that "despite repeated appeals and letters from the Local Authorities of the province of Famagusta, the problems continue to exist at the General Hospital of Famagusta, culminating in the closure of the Pediatric Department from mid-March 2020, since in this ward patients with coronavirus ".

Mr. Karagiannis appeals to the Minister of Health "as Mayor but also as a parent of two children aged 4 and 9 years to promote the immediate reopening of the Pediatric Department, before it is too late."
