The District Committee of the Union of Cypriot Pensioners (EKYSY) Larnaca - Famagusta demands an increase in pensions so that there are no pensioners with incomes below the poverty line.

A written statement of the Commission states that last Thursday, February 7, a meeting of the Larnaca District Commission of Famagusta was held and its executives were informed by the Secretary General of the Organization Costas Skarparis "about the action of the Organization, the goals set for 2019 and for the memorandum with the 13 requests he submitted to the Minister of Labor and for the GESS ".

According to the announcement, Mr. Skarpari stated that "the requirement of EKYSY is to increase the low pensions so that we reach the point where there are no poor retirees who have incomes below the poverty line."

It adds that the Union "will pay special attention to the health sector and will strive to finally implement the General Health Plan. Unfortunately, the government left the Hospitals on their knees, as a result of which they could not serve the patients on time and therefore the Union demands that the first phase (of the Plan) be implemented within the timetables set by the Legislation, ie from June 1, 2019. and in a year later to be fully implemented ".

At the same time, he addresses "an appeal to the doctors to join the GESS and to make efforts for the improvement of any problems or weaknesses of the Legislation".

It is noted that "at the meeting of the District Committee a report was submitted on the organizational results of the departments of EKYSY by the District General Secretary George Sotiriou".
