UNFICYP Representative Alim Sindik told KYPE that calm prevails and the situation is stable in the area of Strovilia, also noting that the UN will continue to monitor the issue closely.
"The situation in Strovilia remains calm and stable. "UNFICYP will continue to be involved and closely monitor the situation in Strovilia," said Mr Siddique, when asked to comment on a British High Commission post on twitter on the same subject.
The peacekeeping force recalled, he said, that "military positions set up by rival forces in violation of the status quo in Strovilia are characterized by the UN as permanent violations".
