A letter to President Anastasiadis was sent yesterday (Monday, March 10, 2020) by the Board of Directors of the Famagusta Tourism, Commercial and Industrial Company (TEVEA) and the Association of Owners of Leisure Centers of Famagusta Province regarding the decision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Reference Hospital in a possible epidemic of the new coronavirus Covid-19.

The letter states that businessmen in the region are fully aware of the seriousness and dangers posed by this new virus that plagues the world, both in terms of public health and the economy.

The consequences of the epidemic on the economic activity of the Province of Famagusta and the country in general, as reported, are already felt as there has already been a large number of bookings canceled in the Hotel Industry and a low booking rate for the upcoming tourist season.

On the other hand, as the letter states "We can not hide our concern about the further consequences that the decision to use the Famagusta General Hospital for coronavirus cases may have. At the same time, they suggest as "Coronavirus treatment centers should be established in non-tourist areas of the country with the aim of limiting the impact on the Tourism Sector and the country's Economy in general" requesting that the use of the Famagusta General Hospital for coronavirus cases be reconsidered.
