The 59th annual national memorial service of the heroic teacher Fotis Pittas, who was killed on September 2, 1958 in the heroic battle of Achronas Liopetri with Andreas Karykos Charykos, Elias Papakyus, will take place tomorrow Sunday morning at the Church of the Archangel Michael in Frenaros.
The memorial service is held by the provincial office of POED Famagusta.
Archimandrite Ieronymos Pyliotis will be present at the memorial service.
The Minister of Education, Costas Kadis, will deliver a memorial speech.
Museum dedicated to Fotis Pittas
In Frenaros, a museum has been operating for several years, which houses the personal belongings of the hero teacher Fotis Pitta. From his bicycle to and from school every day, his notebooks, mandolin and books, as well as a copy of his weapon, are on display in the museum in very good condition.
Mr. George Raftis, the husband of the hero's sister Fotis Pitta, explains that with great effort and pride he maintains the museum trying to enrich it constantly, while he states that many are the daily visits of primary school students from all over Cyprus and Of Greece.
