"It is emphasized that the call for the faithful to abstain from the services does not in any way imply fear for the divine community, but aims to protect them from the danger of gatherings"

As part of new measures to tackle the coronavirus epidemic (covid-19), which were announced by the President of the Republic and the competent ministers on Sunday, March 15, 2020, and following the relevant press release issued by His Beatitude the Archbishop of Cyprus Mr. Chrysostomos, the Holy Metropolis of Constantia and Famagusta informs the faithful that:

In the coming weeks they will be held normally all sequences (Sundays and weekdays) in all the parishes of the Diocese. In addition, during the services, the priests will pray for protection from the infectious disease.

However, until April 10, the faithful are urged not to come to the temples. Priests and psalmists will perform the services on behalf of all and for the sanctification of the universe. The Church always prays for those who are justifiably absent from the meeting in the temple. At the same time, there are multiple possibilities for watching the sacred services on TV and radio or via the internet (see the website of the Metropolitan Church of Constantia, the website of the Metropolitan Church of Agios Georgios Paralimni, the Facebook page of the Metropolitan Church).

With regard to memorials the faithful can give the names to be mentioned by the priests.

They will also be held trisaya in cemeteries in a close family circle. Those who wish to perform the official memorial services in the church, can do so after Easter.

A similar act will apply to holidays (Crucifixion, Annunciation etc.). The priests will mention the names of the celebrants, although they will not have a personal presence in the temple.

Her mystery Confession will not be performed.

It is emphasized that the call for the faithful to abstain from the services in no way implies fear of divine communion, but is intended to protect against the risk of collisions.

Believers are encouraged to substitute common prayers with more intense individual prayer, something that is not foreign to the tradition of our Church, especially in cases of emergency.

End, catechism meetings and speeches are suspended until Easter and any others parish activities.
