Rescue of migrants off Cape Greco completed (BINTEO)

A woman in an advanced stage of pregnancy and three children are among the 14 immigrants rescued by the Larnaca KSED late Sunday afternoon (12/5).

On 12 May 2019 at 15:38, the Larnaca KSED received an emergency emergency call from a merchant ship, which located a small boat sailing unmanned with a large number of passengers, in the sea area South of Cape Greco (approximately 29NM).

Therefore, the KSED immediately activated the National Special Search and Rescue Plan "NEARCHOS", sending to the area a boat of the Port and Maritime Police with nursing staff of the Ambulance Service of the State Health Services, while placing on the alert .

The rescue was finally completed at 20:40 by the Akato of the Port and Maritime Police which gathered a total of 14 people (10 men, 1 woman in advanced stage of pregnancy and 3 children), who were transported safely to the Port of Larnaca.
