Ways of cooperation with the Municipalities of the free province of Famagusta were discussed by the Mayors of Thessaloniki and Kozani during their visit to the area.

A press release of the Municipality of Paralimni states that "yesterday the Mayors of Thessaloniki and Kozani met with the Mayors of Paralimni, Ayia Napa, Sotiras, Deryneia and the President of TEVEA. During the meeting, ways were discussed for future cooperation and possible participation of the free province of Famagusta in the European Territorial Cooperation Group in the framework of the "ELIKAS" program for cross-border cooperation in the Balkans and the Mediterranean. The aim of the cooperation was, among other things, to strengthen economic cooperation by encouraging and supporting synergies between companies, entrepreneurship support bodies, the design and implementation of initiatives, policies, actions and tools to support young people, women and vulnerable social groups.

The meeting was also attended by "the Director of the Regional Association of Municipalities of Western Macedonia Lefteris Topaloglou, the Managing Director of Metropolitan Development SA Chrysostomos Kalogirou and the special advisor to the Mayor of Thessaloniki Leonidas Makris".

According to the press release, "the Mayor of Paralimni, Theodoros Pyrillis, welcomed the guests and noted the willingness of the local authorities for various cooperation".

It is noted that the European Territorial Cooperation Group "ELIKAS" was formed within the quadruple propeller, as the field of cooperation between public and local government (state), collective representation of business, ie Chambers, Universities and Technological Educational Institutions and Civil Society Institutions.
