The Parliamentary Committee on Internal Affairs examined its implementation on the protection of the Law Beach today, following a proposal by MPs Michalis Giorgallas, Kostis Efstathiou, Charalambos Pittokopitis, Christos Orfanidis, Pavlos Mylonas and Linos Papagiannis.

The debate in the competent body of the Parliament has been going on for years, however no solution has been found in the issues for the sunbeds and the umbrellas of the hotels and the water sports.

Today's discussion was attended by the Minister of the Interior, a representative of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, the Audit Office, the Central Committee of Paralio, the Union of Municipalities, PASYXE, the Pancyprian Association of Owners of Marine Sports and Recreation Sports and Recreation. Beds).

At today's meeting, which ended with the extension of the tender announcement, Konstantinos Petridis pointed out the problems, noting that the Ministry of Interior has jurisdiction over the beaches of all provinces except Famagusta, where municipalities and communities are responsible.

He stressed that the Central Beach Committee is an anachronistic institution, which "did wrong", pointing out the responsibility of the Union of Municipalities for what is happening on their beaches.

However, the essence of the whole discussion is that, according to the representative of the Association of Service Owners in the Beach (Umbrellas-Beds), the Municipalities do not announce offers either for water sports or for placing umbrellas or beds and give them directly. hoteliers or their other beneficiaries.

And obviously, where licenses are granted for 200 beds, suddenly 500 appear and therefore there is no room for other bathers or for the proper functioning of water sports and the safety of all people in the end.

This was confirmed by the representative of the Audit Office, Akis Kikas, who stressed that the illegal granting of licenses was included in the report of the Service, however "there is no mechanism" that forces the Ministry of Interior to take appropriate action.

Taking the floor, the Minister of Interior spoke about complaints made about illegal interventions on beaches, which have been for 2-3 years in the Police and the Legal Service.

In essence, as demonstrated by the Home Affairs Committee, beaches are a waste of profit, even if they are a public good. The beds are doubled, the water sports do not have safety valves, the interventions are fixed and no one takes responsibility.

Pyrillis: The municipality of Paralimni is compliant with the legislation

The mayor of Paralimni, Theodoros Pyrillis, spoke earlier on the show "Information Now" on the controversial issue of Omega.

Mr. Pyrillis explained that the issue of beaches is handled by the Municipality of Paralimni, demonstrating that no one has the right to over-indebted for umbrellas and cots. "We will be very strict," he said, referring to specific allegations.

He noted that under the law, the beds are placed at a distance of six to eight meters from the sea, in order to give space to citizens who do not want umbrellas.

The mayor of Paralimni expressed ignorance about specific photos, stating that the issue will be investigated but insisting that the distances are observed.

"The municipality of Paralimni is in compliance with the law," he said.
