It was held at the Municipal Palace of Paralimni in the presence of the Mayor of Paralimni Mr. Theodoros Pyrillis and the plenary of the Municipal Council as well as representatives of the Department of Urban Planning and Housing and members of the Urban Council open pandemic gathering. concerns the report for the preparation of a Local Plan of Paralimni. The meeting was also attended by the Famagusta MP Mr. Kyriakos Hstzigiannis.
During the meeting, the Mayor of Paralimni was initially informed about the insignificant role played by the Local Authorities in the process of preparing the Local Plan for findings regarding any weaknesses or shortcomings of its provisions, which allow the submission of substantiated and substantiated. Mr. Pyrillis stated that based on the established procedures regarding the elaboration of the Local Plan, the Local Authorities should organize open gatherings, in order to enable the citizens, landowners and users of each area that falls under the plan, as well as and in organized groups, to express their views on issues that concern them. The main purpose of organizing the open gathering was the recording by the local community of the role of the specific settlement in the area of the Plan.
The Mayor informed the attendees that the issues that will be raised in the interactive discussion will be recorded in order to be taken into account for the formation of the views / suggestions of each Local Authority that will be submitted before the Urban Planning Council. In addition, he clarified that a new open gathering will follow in which the views-proposals of the Municipality will be presented to the public, which will include the suggestions of the Citizens that will have been recorded from the open gathering, so that there is a common line between Local Authority and Citizens before the final submission of the proposal of the Municipality to the Urban Planning Council.
The presentations of the attendees were recorded regarding the needs for new infrastructures and for industrial-commercial developments, for defining new motivations in terms of development zones, in road networks, and more broadly in a variety of issues aimed at the quality of life of the people of Paralimni. Everything that was heard, gave a reinforcing impetus to the Municipal Council to start continuous meetings with the ultimate goal of drafting the proposal and presenting it to the Citizens of Paralimni in order to co-shape the final views between the Municipality and Citizens on the overall composition of the proposal and then the submission to the Urban Planning Council until 31/10/17.
