On Thursday, members of the Board of Directors of e / k and t / c organizations that cooperate as members of ETUCE were present at the kindergarten, elementary and high school - lyceum of Rizokarpasos, while a corresponding visit will take place at the schools of Agios Antonios in Limassol, where students on May 24.

In his statements to KYPE, the President of POED, Filios Fylachtou said that in the context of this cooperation and joint actions through ETUCE, yesterday's visit to Rizokarpaso took place which was very good and constructive. "All of us, Greek and Turkish, were given the opportunity to talk to the teachers and the children, to see the children." For some of the BoDs it was the first time they saw both Rizokarpaso and the schools, he added, noting that "what we see is how with just one contact the walls and the prejudices that may exist can be demolished".

Mr. Fylahtou noted that the environment in the schools in Rizokarpaso is completely different from that in the school of Agios Antonios, where T / C students also study, clarifying that the conditions are much more difficult for the schools in the occupied areas. He also noted that in the schools of Agios Antonios there are T / C teachers who are paid by the Ministry of Education and the students are taught the Turkish language.

The President of POED stated that he was encouraged by the fact that 16 children are currently attending the kindergarten in Rizokarpaso, while the entire Primary School has 13 students. "This is encouraging because there seems to be a continuum."

Asked about this, he replied that in the schools of Rizokarpaso, despite the conditions and difficulties, the quality of the provided education has significantly improved, the teaching staff is very good, they talked to both the teachers and the students, as well as to the parents' association.

The President of POED explained that the cooperation that previously existed between the educational organizations of primary education between the two sides, since 2011 has expanded to all levels, noting that almost every month they have regular meetings and many joint actions.
