EOKA fighter from Sotira Petros Giannis Tampa passed away at the age of 85.
Petros Giannis was an active member of E.O.K.A. 1955-59 with many ambushes and bomb constructions in his house. The fighter, according to the EOKA Historical Memoirs, fled the four of the Barn in Liopetri where during the escape they were noticed by the English who opened fire on them. He escaped with the four cross eagles to Paralimni, where he remained wanted. He also had various crypts where he hid the organization's weapons.
His funeral was held last Saturday at the Church of the Resurrection of the Savior.
