The Documentary "The Great Drowning", a production of the "Cultural Laboratory of Xylophagus", will be screened for the first time in Xylofagou on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at 7.30 pm.
The film, a 60-minute Historical Documentary, a work of three years of painstaking effort, through live interviews, rare archival footage, great cinematic footage and shocking details, revives the story of the tragedy of the drowning of 25 women and children in June. of 1919, which plunged the villages of Xylofagou, Liopetri and Avgorou into mourning for decades.
Comments from the test screening that took place last Saturday, November 16, state that: "The project is shocking!" and that, "The film transports the viewer, through live images and sound, a hundred years back in time!"
The screening will take place in the multipurpose Hall of the XNUMXnd Elementary School of Xylofagos.
The ticket price is 8 euros for adults and 4 euros for children 2-12 years old.
All proceeds will support the fund and the efforts of the "Xylophagous Cultural Laboratory" of a non-profit, non-governmental organization, so that, as a symbolic workshop, it will be able to construct similar projects.
The Documentary is considered as an important Historical and Cultural event, not only of the community of Xylofagos but in general of the area of Kokkinochoria!
