Sentence of 12 months imprisonment in Sofia Grigoriou, for the case of the quadruple murder in Ayia Napa.

The Permanent Criminal Court of Larnaca - Famagusta sentenced Sofia Grigoriou to 12 months in prison, who pleaded guilty to the charge of conspiracy, after committing a quadruple murder in Ayia Napa, when on the night of June 23, 2016 and Utensils of Hadjiefthymiou and Yani Vogli, one of the perpetrators.

The 12-month prison sentence imposed on Sofia Grigoriou is valid from 17/07/2016.

Sofia Grigoriou was found guilty after admitting to the synergy charge, after committing the murder. The maximum sentence was three years in prison.

As mentioned in today's trial, Grigoriou acted motivated by fear for her life, while her psychological state is a mitigating factor.

Her desire, as mentioned, to testify as a prosecution witness, proves her remorse.

Grigoriou is now part of the witness protection program with all that entails.

Grigoriou's involvement in the case, as mentioned, is greater and more serious than that of the accused under number 5 (Sotia Neophytou), who was sentenced to five months in prison.

References to the previous trial

During the last trial, Alexandros Clerides, Grigoriou's defense attorney, spoke about mitigation of sentence and stated, among other things, that "her admission, even at this stage of the hearing, can and should be considered as a mitigating factor but also as its practical repentance ".

He explained that the only reason for the delay in the admission of Sofia Grigoriou "was and is until today the absolute fear he felt from the day of the crime, especially during the first period after the crime, which had paralyzed her mentally and physically. The defendant at that time had intense anxiety with physical symptoms, decreased mood with emotion, decreased activity, insomnia, anorexia and difficulty concentrating, which caused memory deficits, as a result of which she was given by the state psychiatrists at the Central Prison Pharmacy.
